Potato-y

I had a very long week this past week. My father died on the 30th, so my siblings descended upon the house. Like entirely too many families, we all had complicated relationships (or lack thereof) with the man, so emotions were running particularly high.

Waiting Out The Writing

How many hours have I stared at a blank page while in my mind's eye I saw the characters come to life? Why will it not transfer from my head into writing? Why must I live with these real phantoms that refuse to be seen by anyone other than I? I want not for stories. My head is full of them. What I need is the ability to let them live out their lives on the page, for others to witness, to enjoy.

I used to be very picky about names. I hated "old people" names like Harriet or Alice, but now I'm starting think some of those are the prettiest names. I guess this is mostly because of the books I've been reading.

I was actually going to write something, and then I find fun things online. Oh well.

Alright, time for a new post. I have a new idea for a story, but it's not really going anywhere. I think I have a major case of writer's block. I can't seem to focus on a single story right now...sometimes I don't even feel like writing at all. The one story that I keep coming back to is stuck in a stage of complete overhaul which I just can't seem to pull out of at all. I love the idea so much, but my biggest supporter is my worst critic. No, it's not me. I'm pretty hard on myself, but I rarely see the plot holes he points out. And, man are they some doozies! I suppose I'll get to my point. I'm feeling kind of discouraged right now in the writing department, among other things. Oh, well.
