I'm most proud of my treehouse on Hobo's server. It was incredibly scary and difficult to build that high. Just so you know. lol

Harriet

I used to be very picky about names. I hated "old people" names like Harriet or Alice, but now I'm starting think some of those are the prettiest names. I guess this is mostly because of the books I've been reading.
Some of my favorite names:
-Harriet
-Suzanna
-Meg
-Rosie
-Alice
-Kalin (pronounced Kaylyn)
-Naomi
-Jo
-Josi

What are some of your favorite girl names?

Pink Nails

I was actually going to write something, and then I find fun things online. Oh well.

Alright, time for a new post. I have a new idea for a story, but it's not really going anywhere. I think I have a major case of writer's block. I can't seem to focus on a single story right now...sometimes I don't even feel like writing at all. The one story that I keep coming back to is stuck in a stage of complete overhaul which I just can't seem to pull out of at all. I love the idea so much, but my biggest supporter is my worst critic. No, it's not me. I'm pretty hard on myself, but I rarely see the plot holes he points out. And, man are they some doozies! I suppose I'll get to my point. I'm feeling kind of discouraged right now in the writing department, among other things. Oh, well.

Arafell Hall

"Mom, do I really have to go live with Uncle Greg? He's crazy."

"For the last time, Susan, Uncle Greg is not crazy, just eccentric. And yes, you do have to go. We've been over this. Dad and I are going to Egypt for six months, and you can't go with us because you have to attend school."

"Why can't I stay with Aunt Sally and Toby? Or even Jackie?"

"Aunt Sally's going to be traveling cross country, and Jackie's parents don't have the room to spare. We've been through all of this. You will stay with Greg, and that's the end of it."

Silence reigned in the red car for the next twenty minutes until they took the last exit to a small town in Montana.

"Ah, here we are. Arafell Mountain, home of the Faerie Lights."

"Their mascot is fairy lights? Seriously? I'm going to have to be a 'fairy light'? What the heck, Mom?"

"You'll be fine, sweetie. Come on, here's Greg's house."

They had pulled up in front of a little brown house on the edge of the woods surrounded by old, rusty cars. The lawn looked well cared for with a little flower garden in one corner next to the house.

Elendra had never seen such a sight. Tall, tan towers rose high above the white treetops. She could almost feel the magic in the air.
"This is where we are going to live now? Wow. I can't believe it."

Lilly

Slam! Lilly stomped into the hallway, and tossed her backpack on the floor. She hiked up the three flights of stairs to her attic bedroom and flopped onto the over-stuffed couch. Meowzers, the Siamese cat, pounced his way to her and cuddled up under her arm.

"Aw, Meowzers, I've had a day so rotten that you could smell it five miles away. "

Meowzers looked blankly toward the window, but Lilly didn't seem to notice his indifference.

"First, Annette puked on my favorite jeans. Then I got called to the office for being in the gym without permission. I didn't get detention, but I missed lunch. Now Mom's in the hospital again. ARRRG!!!"

Lilly screamed into the fluffy purple pillow.

"Hello, Lilly."

A small green man with pink hair was standing at her elbow.

"Great, now I'm imagining aliens. Could this day get any worse?"

"Excuse me, Miss Lilly, I am actually a leprechaun, and you are NOT imagining me. Your mother is in grave danger and needs your help."

Lilly sat up, nearly sending the man flying.

Straightening himself, the man said, "Now that I have your attention, are you willing to come with me to see King Oberon?"

"King Oberon? Who's that? Who are you? Wait, what the heck is going on?"

"I am Morphyus, right-hand leprechaun to Oberon, King of the Fae or 'fairies'."

Meg's Words

I'm writing a new story that may NEVER see the light of day, but it's been floating around in my head for weeks now. The main character is a 25-year-old woman named Meg. She's a...well, I'll let her tell you what's up.

"I met Chris when I was 14. Mom had just moved us to Salt Lake City to be closer to Granny Susie, and I was not thrilled to be starting high school with no friends. Chris had a locker next to mine and took pity on me the very first day when he saw me punch the locker in frustration. Anyway, after 5 years of being friends, we got married and had a little boy, Peter. At 19, getting married and having a kid is probably not the best course of action, especially for two people who hadn't even left home for college. I was blissfully happy in my new role as wife and mother for 6 years. Then my world crashed. Chris came home from work very late one night, and I could tell he had been drinking. He told me he couldn't hide any longer. I sat on the bed as he told me the whole dreadful truth. He had been seeing a series of 'other women' throughout our whole marriage, starting with my best friend Hannah. He didn't ask for forgiveness. He didn't say he was sorry. He said he wanted a divorce so he could marry his current floosie.

"I slept on the couch that night, numb with shock and disbelief. The next morning, I packed up Peter, and we moved in with my sister a few blocks away. In the following weeks, our lawyers came up with a separation agreement: Peter would stay with me, even if I moved, until everything was decided.

"Once I had the ok to go, I started looking for a job. By sheer luck, I stumbled upon a listing for a hot springs resort cook in Montana, not too far from the town I grew up in. I notified my attorney and the divorce judge, and Peter and I left by the end of the week. If I got the job, our housing would be provided, as would our food. The whole deal sounded great to me. Peter would grow up in the best state and get to enjoy fresh mountain air. And I would be able to make a new start."

Hello, my name is...

Hey! My name is Amber. Some of you may know me as Addi or Adelyn from my previous sounding board blog. Addi was my chosen moniker for awhile, but I obviously haven't settled on a pen name for good yet. Anyway, hopefully I will remember to update this new blog more often since it's easier to access than my old one. Alright. I suppose I should sum up why I'm here. My whole life I've been writing stories in my head, and for the past 7 or 8 years, I've been attempting to write them down. Due to many family members and friends asking to read some of my writings, whether complete or not, I decided to start a blog where I could put up story ideas, chapter excerpts, poetry, etc, to get feedback. Hey, who knows, you might just help me write the next big story. :)
